Black Friday has fast become a global phenomenon, despite having begun in the United States. Locally, e-commerce platforms such as Jumia and Kilimall have taken advantage of this to offer customers discounts. In an earlier report, this blog highlighted that electronic goods were among the fastest selling commodities on e-commerce platforms in Kenya. From smartphones to televisions and other accessories, these goods have fast emerged as the favourites of e-commerce shoppers. Taking advantage of this fact, smartphone brands have taken advantage of this and launched their devices exclusively on these platforms. Early this year, smartphone brand Cubolt and Infinix launched their devices via Kilimall while Wiko launched a device via Jumia.
As part of this year’s Black Friday, Chinese smartphone brand Gionee will be launching the Gionee M6 Lite on Kilimall. The device is slated to cost Kshs. 19,999 but the online retailer will sell it for Kshs. 13,999 during the one week Black Friday promotion.
The Gionee M6 Lite has a 5 inch full HD (1080 X 1920 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. It spots 3GB RAM and it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system that has Amigo 3.2 UI running on top of it. The device has a 32 GB internal storage, expandable to 256 GB using a micro SD card. It also has a 4,000 mAh battery, with fast charging technology.
The Gionee M6 Lite has a 13-megapixel rear camera with a LED flash, f/2.0 lens, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), Panorama, Exmor-RS CMOS sensor. The phone has a 5-megapixel front camera.
The device does not come with 4G LTE which is pretty much the standard but comes with 3G capabilities. The device comes with dual-sim capabilities and has other additional connectivity capabilities including GPS/AGPS, micro USB and Bluetooth.
The device measures 152.3 x 75.3 x 8.2mm and weighs 180 grammes.
