Faiba 4G Extreme is Here!

#382

I also had this issue when I got the Nokia 2, but the problem was solved when I made saf sim 1 and faiba sim 2.

#383

yeah they dont, realized that when I was topping up 25 gb last week. but I dont mind cuz I used up the first 25 in two weeks, hazitoshi maze. When you buy the same bundle inakaa kivyake till you finish up the first one though. For now, know your limit, buy what you can chew :joy:

#384

Was just thinking, can’t Faiba introduce a monthly unlimited package like Airtel’s, coz yenyewe Fisi hour is just not enough. They could even limit it to 10/20mbps down & up. Their net is nice yani

Sasa this will have to wait until I get myself an Android, will vumilia for now. The work around I have now is that since I have Wifi; I turn on the Wifi first so that the phone’s background data can run first as I open the browser, then I switch on mobile data and switch off wifi so that I load the selfcare page., so far it works hehe

Been asking myself why my Lumia 640 XL LTE is able to connect to the Faiba network and finally got an answer from a post from the Microsoft Community site. Apparently this device came in different variants;

Lumia 640 XL LTE (RM-1062)
LTE-FDD bands 1, 3 , 7, 8, 20
WCDMA 850/900/2100 (RX div 900/2100 MHz)
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lumia 640 XL for AT&T (RM-1063)
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100
LTE-FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17, 29
Carrier Aggregation 4+17, 2+17, 17+2

Lumia 640 XL LTE (RM-1064)
LTE-FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12/17, 20, 28
LTE-TDD bands 38, 40, 41
WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz (RX div in all supported WCDMA frequencies)
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lumia 640 XL LTE Dual SIM (RM-1065)
LTE-FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12/17, 20, 28
LTE-TDD bands 38, 40, 41
WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz (RX div in all supported WCDMA frequencies)
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lumia 640 XL (RM-1066)
WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM (RM-1067)
WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM (RM-1096)
EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz
LTE-FDD bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12/17, 20, 28,29
LTE-TDD bands 38, 40 and partial 41

Apart from Lumia 640 XL LTE (RM-1062) the other LTE phones seem to have support for a large number of LTE bands, which is uncommon for a majority of phones today.
Mine is Lumia 640 XL LTE (RM-1064), but even when buying it I wasn’t aware that there were variants and considering it’s a 2015 device supporting band 12, 17 and 28 which are on 700MHz this device was way ahead of it’s time. Too bad Microsoft are dumping this platform :disappointed_relieved:

#387

It was recently updated and I can vouch for it. I have been using it for the past three weeks and it’s good.

#388

I forgot you live in the stone age

#389

I got RM 1064 but not able to connect to FAiba 4G. Funny enough, Faiba LTe appears when i do a network search.

#390

hehehe :joy:

Input the APN settings manually and set as default, same thing happened on mine and I got a signal when I did this

#391

LONG LIVE Techweez! I’m in!! The phone has been lying idle for long. Let me put it to some good use. To imagine i almost gave away the 640 XL LTE.

#392

hehehe am telling you this phone is awesome., platform support for apps is the problem, but at least we now have a use for it as a Faiba router for the long term :grinning:

#393

I was to import a Mifi from Aliexpress. No need, i have a “router” that supports Band 20, 28 and 3. I’m good.

#394

So today I’ve bought the mifi router. Thanks to @holycow for allowing me to test the network using his device.

However, I have noticed that when I switch of the device then turn it on, it resets the wifi’s SSID and password back to the default values. How do I solve this problem?

With @holycow’s device I did not experience that.

UPDATE: I’m being told to take it to Upper Hill for a firmware update to be done. They can’t send it OTA or give me the file to do it myself. :persevere::persevere::persevere:

#395

If you search on Twitter, you’ll notice they have acknowledged the problem does exist. They claimed to be pushing a firmware update next week after a user at Eldoret complained of the same.
My mifi charger stopped functioning a week ago, saw other users complain of the same.

#396

I had updated even before getting the sim card - First thing that happens when you turn on the Nokia 2.

#397

I’m using Faiba Mi-Fi hotspot and the speed is great but when I change my wifi name and password then save/apply settings, it goes back to default settings after restarting it leaving it vulnerable… its vulnerability comes in coz everyone who has it knows its default password.

#398

Any recommendations for MiFi devices apart from the Faiba one and that is available without having to import?

#399

why would you want any other? (although i would like one with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi bands :yum: plus longer range) … unless its made by samsung or cisco, just stick to chinese made faiba mifi :joy:

#400

has anyone used the Faiba Talk app? tried it a while ago n seems rather complicated. I wasn’t able to receive the verification sms on my Faiba line coz my phone is data only so I verified using my Safcom line. I was assigned a landline number

#401

Same problem here. Waliniambia nipeleke kwao they update the software. But @holycow has mentioned that wamesema on Twitter they’ll be pushing an OTA update this week. So wacha nisubiri kwanza.
